This light libation is PERFECT for the summer heatwave we've been experiencing in the DMV lately. I found this on Carla's own website and I am looking forward to trying more of the very accessible recipes she posts!
If you don't know anything about Carla Hall, Google her! She is INCREDIBLE. She's most recently been on Netflix's imaginative cooking show, Crazy Delicious, which is so fun and mouth-watering to watch!
This recipe makes 4 servings.
Ingredients:
8 cups seedless watermelon cubes, frozen for at least 24 hours
2 cups strawberries, quartered and frozen for at least 24 hours
2-4 tablespoons simple syrup (equal parts water and sugar)
Juice & zest of 1 lime
¼ cup fresh mint, plus more leaves for garnish
1 ½ cups filtered water
Optional:
Add 2 shots of tequila
FIRST: Make sure you've done the necessary prep work! Then, add the watermelon, strawberries and the remaining ingredients to the carafe of the blender.
THEN: Pulse the blender until the fruit starts to break up, then blend to form a thick slushy consistency.
FINALLY: Adjust with simple syrup to taste. If the consistency is too thick, add more water. Garnish with mint leaves and serve cold.
